Ladies, thanks for coming to neighborhood know how last week! I'll be posting recipes to make laundry detergent, stain treater, surface cleaner, and bathroom cleaner. For now, here are a few laundry tips that were discussed.
http://www.vinegartips.com has dozens of tips for using vinegar in laundry and cleaning (deodorize, disinfect, keep colors bright, shine chrome faucets, clean dishwashers, etc.)
http://www.askannamoseley.com/ Ask Anna showcases simple and inexpensive tips for organizing, cleaning, and decorating. Highlights: clean oven glass, freshen your washing machine, tackle crock pot stains, clean with lemons. If you have a question she hasn’t answered, you can ask her!
Laundry Tips

Clean your washer’s filter with a vinegar soak to prevent lint on clothes. (Ask Anna)
For stinky rags, soak in bleach water before washing with white towels, or see vinegartips.com
For oil stains, use Dawn, Naptha, Thoro, or Goo Gone.
For greasy stains like tar, use butter to get the oil out, then treat the remaining color stain. (Karen Ivory).
For stains on white clothing, try a paste of water and Dishwasher soap (like Cascade)(Emily Manning).
For ink stains, use hairspray or rubbing alcohol.
For stinky towels, wash in hot water with ammonia, which rids them of body oils.
